Over the years, we’ve seen hundreds of kids go from nervous beginners to confident speakers in a new language. There’s a clear pattern—and the most successful learners all have 5 habits in common, number # 3 and #5 set us apart from most language programs...Truly, I can sniff out grammar-based language schools in seconds. Ha, it's one of my superpowers. 😏

If you want your kiddo to actually speak the language (not just “study” it), here’s what works:

1️⃣ Re-read the same story—on purpose.

Progress isn’t about plowing through 30 books. It’s about mastering the story. Our students re-read their favorite adventures like Salt, Pepper & Sunny over and over. Why? Because it builds confidence. It removes overwhelm. They start to anticipate the next line, then say it out loud. That’s how fluency starts.

2️⃣ Stick with one program. Program-hopping slows everything down. We’ve had families tell us, “We tried 3 apps and 2 curriculums before finding you… I wish we had just started here.” When kids feel safe, seen, and supported—they thrive. That’s the environment we create with every student.

With consistency, we can actually measure growth—and your kid starts feeling like, “I get this.”

3️⃣ Don’t obsess over grammar.

Kids don’t need to analyze language—they need to use it. We don’t waste time on worksheets or memorizing verb charts. Instead, we tell rich, funny, interesting stories. The grammar falls into place naturally.

4️⃣ Listen. A lot.

Imagine your kid listening to their Spanish story during breakfast. Then repeating a few lines with their teacher in a one-on-one session. Now they’re using full sentences—without even realizing they learned them. That’s the power of consistent listening. In our program, audio isn’t an afterthought—it’s core to how kids learn.

5️⃣ Speak early and often—even if it’s messy.

Fluency is a skill, not a test score. Our students start speaking from day one—because we ask the right questions, model responses, and build real conversations. It’s never forced, from day one, we start with questions kids can answer, and build from there. Fluency doesn’t show up fully formed and it's sticking with rule #1.
