Language Mindset

honestly, your kiddo is ahead of the game

When you’re an outside-the-box thinker, Readerit can feel… well, a little scary!

I followed the “right” path—went to college, got a degree, earned a master’s in education, studied abroad, and taught in both private and public schools. But I’ve always thought differently.

My goal for language learning—and for every student at Language Mindset—is simple: to SPEAK another language. Because once that happens, the world literally starts to open up.

So, in the subject line, I wrote: “Honestly, we’re ahead of the game…” and here’s why:

Our approach is through stories—Salt, Pepper, and Sunny. You might see terms like comprehensible input (CI) or CI language acquisition floating around. If you’re curious, Google it after reading this!

At our school, we don’t just follow this method—we build our entire curriculum around it. We teach languages through stories. And honestly? I feel proud that we’ve been doing this for years while so many adults are just now discovering that this is one of the best ways to learn a language.

That said—there are so many ways to learn a language. If you prefer memorization, spaced repetition, or focusing on retention and recall, that’s totally valid! Those methods work for plenty of learners.

But what excites me is that our school has stood by this storytelling approach from the start, and now more and more people are recognizing its power. So I guess my outside-the-box thinking is really paying off—for all of our learners.

And at the end of the day, our #1 goal is to support your children in growing their fluency, class by class, year by year.

Student Spotlight: Michael, 11 yo learning Italian

Michael's family joined us with the dream of helping him learn Italian so he could connect with his relatives in Sicily—and guess what? He did it!
I even had the pleasure of meeting one of his cousins from Sicily, who was impressed by how well Michael spoke.

At Language Mindset, we believe in learning through reading, and Michael’s progress is proof of how powerful this approach can be. We’re so proud of his growth and his natural ease with the Italian language.
After finishing his first chapter book, Michael is now diving into our fun Italian comics, with his next big read, Octopus Island, just around the corner! Our proven methodology of reading engaging, comprehensible books is creating forever fluent kids—and Michael is a shining example!

Here's what his family says:
