Let me share something quirky: You’re not alone if you’ve done “crazy” things to practice a language.

Here's my confession: Every morning, I grab my coffee, look at my black cat, Dean, and tell him the weather—in German.

Me: Wie ist das Wetter heute? [What's the weather today]

Dean, the cat: Meow.

Me: Es ist kalt [it's cold]

Dean, the cat: Meeeeeeeoow [walks away]

Why? Because Dean’s a great listener, and hey, no judgment from him. Many polyglots do this—talking to pets, themselves, or plants to sneak in daily practice. Two minutes a day? It works!

And for Chinese? I’m diving into our comics. Honestly, I’ll probably read them to my dog, Mijo. (He pretends to care.) Bonus: our books come with audio, so I can send mini updates to our Chinese teacher, Shuyan, and see if I can surprise her with my progress!
