When it comes to learning a new language, especially Spanish, setting realistic expectations is crucial for your child's success. For a 10-year-old, it’s not realistic to expect them to master every grammar rule or remember every detail from each chapter right away. What truly matters is their comfort level with the language,Reader their willingness to participate, and, most importantly, how confident they feel in speaking and answering questions.

I often find myself wondering if my classes are too fun—should I add more grammar drills and textbook exercises to make it feel more "serious"?

But then I remember that language learning should be exciting, not overwhelming. After all, it’s far more impressive when a child can read a full chapter book in Spanish and actually understand what’s being said, rather than just memorizing phrases like the names of colors or animals.

When kids feel comfortable and confident, they become open to learning. They don’t feel like they're in a class of constant corrections or pressure to get everything “perfect.” Instead, they learn by actively engaging with stories, asking questions, and making mistakes in a safe space—all while having fun!

That’s why our 1:1 classes prioritize enjoyment and building confidence. I want every child to leave class feeling excited about what they learned, ready to tackle the next challenge, and proud of their progress. When kids are confident, they’re much more likely to want to continue learning!
