Language Mindset: Online classes for kids!

You’re Not the Only One Wondering

I always light up when I get a notification that one of our kiddos posted a video on our community board — sometimes reading from their book, sometimes just chatting in their new language with confidence (and usually with a silly voice or two).

Watching kids move through our books, level up, and realize “I can do this!” — that never gets old, Reader!

It’s not about perfect accents or memorizing long lists.
It’s about feeling proud, having fun, and growing in a way that sticks.

So who am I, and why did I build this?

Hi, I’m Juliana — a multilingual learner and educator from New York. I started Language Mindset six years ago after leaving the classroom, driven to create the kind of learning experience I wish I had growing up.

Even though I now speak Spanish, French, and Italian, it didn’t start that way. I grew up in a monolingual home with Italian roots — sure, we heard some words here and there, but not enough to actually speak the language.

And when I was 14? I failed the Spanish state exam.
Yep — failed.
My mom forced me to go to summer school.

But that summer? Everything changed. I had an amazing teacher, and something finally clicked. I kept going. I taught myself French. Then Italian. And I fell in love with language learning — for real.

I went on to earn my Master’s in Education and taught in both public and private schools. I followed the traditional path, got all the degrees, checked all the boxes. But honestly? What helps our kiddos most today isn’t in a textbook.

It’s the real-life experience.
It’s knowing what it actually takes to go from zero to fluent — and how to remove the fluff so kids can focus on what really matters: communicating.

Today, I help kids ages 8–13 fall in love with languages — and stay on the path to fluency.
I believe this to my core: your kiddo can become fluent.
Yes, it takes time. But I’m here to guide the way — and make sure you actually enjoy the journey too.

Oh — and the wild part? The most impressive part of the story happened after I left the classroom…
But I’ll save that for another email. 🙂

Our team now includes teachers who believe what I believe: that storytelling, connection, and natural conversation always beat worksheets and drills.

I can tell you that every kid can be fluent, that's why I named the school Language MINDSET.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do online classes actually work for kids?

Yes — and often even better than in-person lessons.
Our classes are designed specifically for young learners, not just adapted for them. We use colorful visuals, interactive tools, real-time feedback, play-based methods, and routines that keep kiddos engaged and making real progress every week. Many families tell us their kiddos look forward to class — and we take that as the highest compliment.

2. I don’t speak the language… will my kiddo still be successful?

Absolutely. Most of the parents in our program don’t speak the language either — and that’s totally okay. Your kiddo is guided every step of the way by a real teacher who knows how to make them feel confident, supported, and successful. You don’t need to "help" with homework or translations. Just cheer them on. We’ve got the rest covered.

3. What materials do you use?

We don’t use cookie-cutter textbooks — we created something better.

Juliana, the founder, wrote and illustrated a custom storybook series featuring three original characters:
Salt the clever black cat, Pepper the playful dog, and Sunny the adventurous red squirrel. These characters guide kiddos through bite-sized, beginner-friendly stories that are meant to spark conversation, not just memorization.

Each book is filled with visuals, useful language, and native-speaker audio, so your kiddo can listen, read, and speak naturally from day one. The stories are fun, simple, and effective — designed to be understood even by total beginners.

4. How long do kiddos usually take lessons with you?

Many families stay with us for years. Our full program is designed to take a kiddo from zero to conversational — all before they turn 14. We meet each learner where they’re at, and help them grow step by step through every stage of the journey. Whether your kiddo is just starting out or already has some language under their belt, there’s room to grow here.

5. Can my kiddos learn together in the same class?

Yes — and it’s one of our most popular options!
It’s a great bonding experience for siblings and super convenient for families. When siblings learn together, they support each other and keep practicing outside of class too. We also offer a special sibling rate to make it even more affordable.

6. How much does it cost?

Here’s a breakdown of tuition — we keep it simple: [all classes are 30 minutes long, short & sweet for kiddos]

• 1x/week (4 sessions/month) – $195/month
